Bridging The Caribbean Capital Gap: How Private Sector Partnerships Aim To Drive Inclusive Growth

From Guyana to Grenada, and Jamaica to Suriname, entrepreneurs and developers across the Caribbean are building the region’s future - but far too many are doing so without access to capital.

In a region where commercial banks remain risk-averse and institutional funds often overlook smaller economies, early-stage real estate projects and underbanked SMEs continue to face steep barriers to financing.

This access-to-capital challenge isn't new - but the urgency is growing. Climate vulnerability, tariff threats and supply chain instability, and youth unemployment all require bold solutions. Financing is one of the most critical.

That’s why Invest Caribbean (ICN) and Delta Capital Partners are partnering to develop two complementary blended finance initiatives designed to unlock opportunity across the English-speaking Caribbean:

🏗️ 1. Real Estate & Infrastructure Finance

The Delta–ICN Real Estate Fund will focus on providing collateral-backed capital for shovel-ready projects in:

  • Affordable housing

  • Logistics and industrial zones

  • Hospitality and tourism

  • Diaspora-led mixed-use developments

By combining conservative loan-to-value ratios with performance-based disbursement and risk mitigation protocols, the fund is structured to help high-quality projects move from blueprint to groundbreaking.

💼 2. SME Working Capital Support

Through the Delta–ICN SME Inclusion Initiative, the partnership also aims to support underbanked small businesses — particularly those led by women in the Caribbean.

With a merchant cash advance focus, the initiative enables fast, flexible access to working capital without the collateral barriers of traditional lending. Training and peer support will also be offered in partnership with local chambers and development networks.

🤝 The Bigger Picture

Both initiatives share a common goal: to help solve the Caribbean’s financing gap through blended capital.

“The reality is that there’s no shortage of good ideas in the Caribbean - only a shortage of access to smart capital,” said Felicia J. Persaud, CEO of Invest Caribbean. “These efforts are about unlocking what’s already there.”

Invest Caribbean and Delta Capital Partners are focused on building partnerships with aligned stakeholders committed to driving sustainable, inclusive growth in the region.
